Management/Business Plans

The areas of management can be put into four main areas, they are: production, economics/finance, marketing and people. Upon first contract we study the resource(s) in all areas of management and work with land owners to produce business models that are within owner’s goals and plan management around those goals for long, sustainable production which is economically and ecologically sound.

On-site personnel

The hiring and management of all ranch personnel with emphases in quality Site-Managers is of greatest importance to the success of all operations. Executive Agribusiness is dedicated to search out and find those to whom management should be entrusted. With many contacts within the industry and agriculture schools and programs we find the most qualified people for these positions.

Financial

We work with those already used or locate within operations geographic location the highest quality accountant(s) that we will train in the most effective ranch accounting principles in accordance with GAP. We provide all budgets and financial records needed for good management and provide full reports to owner(s) which include yearly meetings with Executive Agribusiness team, site-manager and owner(s) and quarterly reports.

Range Management

Livestock grazing systems, wildlife habitat, water, and forage conservation is part of our holistic approach to management. We put into place systems of conservation that when used for extended periods of time prove to increase production, sustain the natural resource, and grow profits.

Marketing

Executive Agribusiness provides for all marketing needs of livestock, crops and wildlife, as well as other diverse marketing needs. We manage inventory to help produce the most effective marketing for what products to sell, and the time and place of transactions to reach optimum returns.

Livestock Production

With our diversified team we manage in areas of cow/calf, stocker, sheep, goat, calf back grounding and custom feeding or any combination of these. We study the environments of each operation and choose genetics and/or class of livestock to match those eco systems to produce the most economically productive animal for location. Breeding stock selection, conception rates, gains per acre, body condition scores are among some areas of production that is evaluated and recorded to help make effective managerial decisions.

Wildlife Management

In today’s diversified market place wildlife becomes an advantageous area of management. Long-term production in wildlife population and quality through proper practices in accordance with owner(s) goals is of top priority.

Land Purchase Evaluations/Leases

One of the most effective ways Executive Agribusiness feels the industry can improve is by matching investment money with proper management. We provide full evaluations of possible property purchase as well as the searching of these properties. Lease negotiation and management is also part of our full management plan.

Infrastructure Construction and Maintenance

As part of our management services we oversee all infrastructure growth and maintenance.

Wesley Miller

Wesley was raised in Arizona and introduced to the construction industry while young through his father who owns and operates General Contracting and HVAC businesses. In this realm he learned to appreciate business and was taught firsthand how to bid jobs, manage crews and be proficient and profitable in the process.

During 2007 he was a Superintendant of a home building company and was in charge of all sub- contractors, budgets and timing of completion.

While raised in construction his background in agriculture started at a young age and since has spent most efforts in hands on experience and education in an effort to become knowledgeable and effective in the industry. He holds a certificate of Ranch Management from Texas Christian University and has used his contacts there and since to help build a successful career.

During 2001-2008 he spent gaining experience in the day-to-day operations of ranching. During this time he made contact and worked for some highly productive ranchers who have taught him firsthand the economics and production of ranching. He was the Ranch Manager of Hudson Livestock in San Angelo, TX during May 2010-November 2011 where he was responsible for all budgets, cattle production, heifer development, AI program, back grounding program and managed all work.

In late 2011 he started his own business in agriculture services in which he brokers all classes of livestock, does consulting work in many areas including business plans, feedlot, grass and wheat breakevens, wildlife budgets and plans, infrastructure work, pasture rotation and contract management.

He works with some of the most successful people in agriculture, real estate and other business fields and has gained a reputation for entrepreneurship skills, business plan creation and execution.

He served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, June 2002-June 2004 to Tulsa Oklahoma Mission. There he managed the affairs of other missionaries and has since served in many leadership capacities.

Burke Teichert

Burke was raised on a family ranch in western Wyoming. His Father and Grandfather were ahead of their time in understanding the importance of low-input, low cost agriculture

After high school, he went to BYU to study Agricultural Economics with an emphasis in AgBusiness. He also served a 2 ½ year mission for his church in Brazil. Upon graduating from BYU, he went to the University of Wyoming to get a M.S. in Agricultural Economics with emphasis in Farm and Ranch Management.

While at UW he became acquainted with a very good Ranch Economist that taught him excellent methods for analyzing alternative methods of operating ranches or bringing new practices to them. He also visited 40+ ranches in the state to collect data for his M.S. thesis. Some of those visits turned out to be life-long thought changers. Following graduation, Burke served on the Ag. Economics faculty for one year.

After his time at the University of Wyoming, Burke spent a few years in the Artificial Insemination industry where he was put in touch with some of the best Animal Scientists in America—several of whom became mentors. This was a very valuable addition to the Agricultural Economics formal education.

Burke has since worked in various aspects of farm and ranch management and consulting including:

• Three plus years as General Manager of the Livestock Division of U&I Inc. in the Tri-Cities area of Washington. Developed a livestock division to graze the crop residue on two very large farms irrigated with water pumped from the Columbia and Snake Rivers.

• Two plus years as ½ time Assistant Professor of Ag. Econ. At BYU and engaged in consulting work.

• From 1980 to 1990 worked with the Welfare Services department of the LDS Church as Manager of Production and later as Manager of 7 cattle ranches in Utah.

• From 1990 to July of 2010 worked as a General Manager and later as Vice President and General Manager with AgReserves Inc. Was involved in 7 major ranch acquisitions in the US and the management of a number of farms and ranches in the US as well as Canada and Argentina.

• Developed a reputation for organizing ranches to be very cost-effective and profitable with very efficient, small crews. Also a proponent of planned, time-controlled grazing for improved soil health and ranch productivity.

• Since retirement has worked as a contract manager, consultant and speaker.

Burke has managed ranches in a variety of locations and has had managerial oversight of two large farms and a dairy. He has also traveled extensively in the U.S. and in parts of Canada and Central and South America as well as England, Australia and New Zealand on company business or as a consultant or speaker.

Travis Johnson

Travis was raised on a cow/calf operation that retained calves as stockers primarily on grass and farm aftermath to approximately 800 pounds. He farmed mostly alfalfa and some grain through sprinkler and flood irrigation. 1979-1990

Five years was spent working for AgReserves Inc. at Deseret Cattle and Citrus where he was involved in pasture development, cow/calf production, bull development, and heifer development. 1990-1995

While working at ARI he attended Brevard Community College in Cocoa, FL; 1993-1995. Attended BYU in the Agriculture Business department directly after ARI; 1995-1997

After BYU he formed an S corporation (JJ Livestock Inc.) with his Father, purchased the cattle and leased the Platt Ranch (Comprised of approximately 300 sections of native pasture land) in St. Johns, AZ January 1st 1998-current.

JJ Livestock Inc. has since purchased two other ranches in the St. Johns area and leases another 50 sections. The corporation’s base is a cow/calf operation, with an integrated back-grounding and stocker operation.

He has been the primary manager of all financial and operational aspects of the corporation since its birth.

Travis has experience in real estate transactions, securing and maintaining financing, controlling financial directives, assessing financial statements and operational systems.
